This week, as we continue on the topic of faith we will be looking at two types of faith:
Faith that is born out of experience
A lot of us profess that we have faith in God but it is often based on past experiences and knowledge. We find something we can hold on to before we believe God will uphold his promises.
Faith that comes through revelation and promise of Christ.
The bible tell us in Hebrews 11:11 “By faith Sarah herself also received strength to conceive seed, and she bore a child[b] when she was past the age, because she judged Him faithful who had promised”. Sarah did not wait for a proof or a sign, she simply believed God and took him by His word that if he says it, He will surely bring it to pass. Abraham also believed God’s promise and left his household without knowing where he was going. In the same way we are meant to believe God radically.
What is the importance of Faith?
- We cannot please God without faith
- Anything outside of faith is sin
- We live and walk by faith
- All things are possible by faith
Faith can also be described as the confidence, assurance and reality of the unseen. The unseen are the promises of God written for us, they may not be visible or tangible yet, but as long as we stay faithful in our walk with God they will surely come to pass.
